Since my last blog post so much has happened that I am struggling to remember it all. I am going to start at the beginning and mention Megan, a promising young footballer who has been training with me for the last 12 weeks. Megan has been attending training sessions along with her dad Ron. My original brief was to get her stronger and faster, in preparation for her upcoming trials with Chelsea and Hampshire football clubs. I began the programmes using exercises to get her stronger, then moved onto exercises that would make her more powerful and finally took her and Ron outside and gave them some sprint drills and multi directional speed work. Before her trials I also gave Megan some advice on how to use psychological skills training to improve her performance and reduce anxiety, Megan really took this on board and told me she had practiced the skills I had suggested; in the car on the way to the trials and said that she really thought they had helped her to prepare. I am thrilled to say Megan was accepted for both centres of excellence and was left with the very difficult decision of who to sign for. Eventually the head ruled the heart and Megan decided that the travel up to the Chelsea training ground in Cobham twice a week plus a match at the weekend would be too much, and has taken her skills to the Hampshire squad. Ron has asked me to remain part of Megan's fitness team and to oversee her match fitness preparation, this is as exciting for me as it is for them and I cant wait to see how well she starts the season, good luck Megan.
Two of my MMA stars, Scott Pooley and Joe Laurence have both been training hard with me. Joe has put in a huge effort and began strength training a full 12 weeks before his latest bout, training regularly twice a week. Scott started his training 7 weeks ahead of his latest title defence, both Scott and Joe hit peak performance perfectly, with the final session producing massive improvements over a series of exercises designed to push the fitness levels beyond those needed for competition. Both the lads agreed to be part of a research project I am using to develop effective and specific fitness testing protocols using heart rate and time to provide valid estimation of fighters' readiness at varying stages of a training camp. Last weekend Scott achieved a huge first round victory over a dangerous opponent (who was unbeaten in his last 5 outings) using his trademark 'triangle' submission. Scott remains the Shock and Awe British featherweight champion. Joe was fighting in a local Derby and there was talk that his opponent would 'outclass' him. There was some bad feeling between the two fighters and plenty of trash talk coming Joe's way in the pre-fight, but Joe remained the perfect sportsman and let his skills do the talking when he completed a stunning first round victory, finished with a rear naked choke. Joe is soon in reach of a title shot, and doors are beginning to open to bigger stages for Scott. Lads, as always, you have done me proud and I look forward to starting our next training camps. Until then, enoy your breaks and eating and drinking whatever you want for the next few weeks!
Natalie Guest succeeded with her quest to raise a fortune for Help the Heroes by riding wild horses through rough terrain over 10 days in Mongolia. Natalie has been hugely brave. As mentioned in one of my previous blogs, Natalie hates exercise, but she still trained for around 8 months before the trek, completed a gruelling training weekend in Snowdonia in March, before going on to raise over £25,000 to help support Britain's injured soldiers. For this achievement, Natalie deserves a massive shout out. For a young lady who hated exercise, she now regularly attends the gym and I am told, has vowed to take on the challenge of the London marathon (although she hasn't specified in which year). For me, training Natalie was a lot of fun, not to mention chellenging! Natalie had many ways of avoiding exercise and I had to have a full arsenal of alternatives to keep her sessions flowing! I was invited to Natalie's final fundraiser in Berkshire where her proud parents, Helen and Robert, had organised a huge send-off and managed to raise a further £7/£8k for the cause. The party was great fun with an amazing raffle (in which I narrowly missed out on winning shares in a racehorse!) and an awesome hog roast. Natalie has now moved from Uni in Bournemouth to bigger and better things in London, so I would like to take this opportunity to say a massive well done and good luck to Natalie.
Other successes have come from Heidi, who is continuing to lose inches, Sarah who has made a flying start to her training programme, is rapidly toning up and has dropped a dress size already. Dr Phill has made great progress with his first phase of stability and endurance training and has enjoyed the variety and change from strength training. Maria has been training with me for the last 6 weeks, trying to shed a few extra pounds and tone up for her wedding in September - at her dress fitting last week she was made up as the dress needed substantial alteration (in the right areas). I have known Maria for many years and it is fair to say she has always been a cardio fan and done very little or no resistance training, but since she started training with me, she has quickly shifted over to a more freestyle approach to her exercise regime and is now often seen lifting weights, using cable machines, swiss balls, kettlebells and medicine balls in her own gym sessions; and the results are really showing.
Last but not least, I am going to big myself up. I have graduated from Bournemouth Uni achieving a 2:1 in my foundation degree in coaching and athlete development, so am delighted that the last 3 years of studying in every spare moment has paid off in terms of gaining a relevant academic qualification. I have already signed up for the BSc (Hons) course to further study Sports and Coaching Sciences starting in September.
2011 has seen some massive changes and improvements for all the clients I work with and some great results for me on a personal level. After the last 9 months of study, I am seriously looking forward to getting stuck in at the gym myself.
Be Happy, Healthy, Fit and Strong.

A very quick unwork related bit of gossip - for anyone who I haven't seen in a few weeks, I have some exciting news:
After nearly two and a half years together, I have asked my girlfriend Nicole to marry me whilst on a short break in Barcelona, Nicole has gracefully accepted my proposal and we are currently in the process of planning the whens and wheres and hows of our wedding. I know a lot of my friends are thinking that; "its about time":0).
Thanks for everyones good wishes and I will keep anyone who's interested updated as wedding plans unfold.

Are we in April already? How did that happen without me getting another blog in? Oh yea, I have been snowed under with university projects and the gym is busier than ever! I've also managed to squeeze in another trip to the Alps for some seriously fast skiing - good times!
Everyone is hitting targets in the gym with big results for several clients including Heidi, Aperna, Hilary, Rachel (who has lost 2 stone), Dr Phil, Yorkshire Gary (who this year has given up smoking and has nearly completed a month off the booze and is losing body fat like its going out of fashion)the boxing boys including Paul who I am hoping has completed the London marathon today and my two fighters - Paul Rocha and Joe Lawrence, who are in action over Easter.
Massive success has been achieved by Mary, who is two weeks away from getting married. She came to me with a pretty big challenge: to lose two stone(12.7kg)in 14 weeks. Mary has lost weight and shed body fat safely through sensible eatingand with precisely designed exercise programmes. A major factor in Mary's success has been her attitude and sheer determination - she has trained extremely hard and put meaning to the saying "when the going gets tough - the tough get going" (although if looks could kill I'd have been a goner 14 weeks ago for some of the sessions I have given her). Mary has given me plenty of credit for helping her to achieve a huge goal, but another major player is a book called "The Primal Blueprint" by Mark Sisson. Mary read Sisson's book before she started training and has applied many of it's principles in her approach to eating.
This is the approach that has got nearly 2 stone off for Mary:
Turning up to training with a food diary (if you are serious about losing weight this is a must)
Eating high protein foods, such as eggs, meat, fish and cheese
Cutting out all processed food
Eating more green - leafy vegatables and salads
Avoiding high sugar fruit and opting for occasional berries
Greatly reducing intake of bread, cereals and other processed carbohydrates. Ideally avoiding these completely
Getting to bed by 10:30pm at the latest
Mary has certainly not gone hungry and in her own words really enjoys the foods she now eats. Although a few times I have told her she needed to eat a little more to keep her metabolism (the process of burning energy/calories through all of the bodies functions)high. Over the last week she has managed to avoid bread completely - even the half a slice of linseed bread she had weened herself down to - and actually said after "coming off" bread over a few months, that it wasnt a big deal at all. This from somebody who could not make it through the day without lots of refined carbs! The difference on the scales was 3.7lbs in one week. Now before anyone starts, the recommended weight loss of 2.2lbs a week should be taken as an average over the whole period that weight is lost for. Yes Mary has made some big dietary and lifestyle changes, Yes she has been training ridiculously hard with a lunatic trainer who she jokes is trying to kill her and yes, there have been times when she has nearly thrown the towel in and gone for a cheesecake. But she hasn't. Mary has turned up to every session, armed with her food diary, ipod play list and deafening docking station that she brings in to to drown out the screams. She gets stuck in like a trooper and without complaints (well the odd swear word directed at me when she thinks I'm not listening). After achieving her two stone goal, I cant wait to see what she's going to do next - maybe next years marathon? Well done Mary - you've been awesome!
Well that's enough from me for a while.
Be good, stay fit, healthy and happy.

A very quick blog to congratulate the new Shock and Awe Bantamweight champion - Scott Pooley. As is often the way with mixed martial arts, the fight didnt go exactly to plan(we had planned to take the fight to the later rounds and use his superior fitness to his advantage), with Scott getting himself in a winning position in the opening seconds of round 1, he landed an early triangle and despite being slammed continuously on the canvas, managed to hold on for 2 minutes and find the angle to force a submission. Scott was calm and confident before the bout, he is a talented young fighter and I hope to see him winning plenty more titles in the future.
Unfortunately Joe Laurence did not fare as well - getting stopped via a choke in the last 10 seconds of round 2. Joe has reported that he felt super fit and is looking to get back on the winners podium on the 13/3.
One more congratulation goes to Mrs C, who has achieved 1 of her goals, and will keep building on this. She was aiming to achieve a full press up and after completing a training programme she has succeeded on the first try. Next goal is 5 full press ups.
Thats it for now.
Over and out.

Well a very belated Happy New Year to everyone - sorry its a been a while.
2011 so far is flying for me! I started out the year with my usual pilgrimage to the Alps for an amazing weeks skiing in Val D'Isere - I came back revitalised and ready for a busy and successful year.
With some great results in 2010, my aim this year is to help even more people reach their goals,to continue progress towards achieving my own and to have fun whilst I'm doing it.
The gym is already buzzing this year and I am fast running out of spaces for people. I have a good mixture of old faces returning to training and plenty of new faces keen to get in shape and stay in shape for 2011.
I am going to give a mention first of all to the newly wed, Mrs E who had a great 3 months training and walked down the aisle looking stunning - congratulations.
Another of the ladies, Mrs C deserves a mention this month -after starting in early December her progress is impressive with a marked improvement in tummy and arm toning. Mrs C has tackled all the routines I've thrown at her and is starting to feel the benefits and buzz of regular exercise. On top of this she is even going out for 6k runs and sometimes swimming before training - Good work! With a bit more of this her goals will be met in no time and a major healthy lifestyle shift is well underway.
One more young lady who I have to mention this month is Natalie G. Natalie HATES exercise or so she would have me believe despite this she is in training to raise a stupendous amount of money for help the heroes by doing a 10 day horse-back trek in the baking heat of Mongolia - on wild horses! Natalie has raised (according to help the heroes) more than any other individual since they have been running! and she still has 5 months to raise even more. I will put her just giving details on line - please help if you can. Well done Natalie.
Fighters
Scott Pooley is back in the frame and chasing the Bantamweight Shock and Awe belt. He is looking comfortable and strong at his new weight as well as ridiculously fit and technical to boot, keeping his cool and taking the fight to the later rounds should see Scott come into his own!
Joe Lawrence
Joe has taken his training up a gear; coming to me in early December wanting to build strength for his next fight. Weighing in at just over 60k.g he is managing to throw his weight around and is throwing around some of the heavier guys in training. Joe has built some serious strength relative to his size and is currently turning it into explosive power. Joe is looking fit, incredibly sharp and I predict a victory for him on the 12/2.
I want to thank everyone who has trained with me over 2010 for making my job so enjoyable and getting yourselves fit and healthy. Keep working at it!
If like me you have started the year strong, stay focussed, be positive, look to the future and have an amazing 2011.

BUSY AND EXCITING TIMES
Since I last wrote so much has happened.
I've had huge successes with several clients, the ladies are all over it at the moment. Maxine has had a dress fitting and is already thinking about having it taken in for the big day in December, Charlie despite suffering with some nasty flu bugs over the 3 months has massively dropped body fat and shifted to a normal posture from a hyper lordotic lumbar curve(think Donald Duck)and has significantly less lower back pain, and Sophie who's aim was just to begin training has dropped nearly a stone. Oh and last but by no means least is Heidi, who is shrinking as we speak and has developed a healthy love of exercise. Nice work ladies lets keep it up till Xmas and have a great start to 2011!
THE BOYS
O.K first I have to big up Mark Cliffton(Cliffy)who has been with me as part of the lads workout now for over a year. When Mark first started - he was'nt the most talented boxer I have ever seen to say the least, he lacked co-ordination and really struggled with his balance. On friday - Mark stepped in to the ring, he went the distance with another of my lads Anthoney Tilley, who I train in conjuntion with John Orchard. These two battled it out in a white collar boxing match with all the proceeds going to charity. It was a hard fought contest with both men pushed to exhaustion. Without a doubt the fight of the night and I am immensely proud of both Mark and Tilley. On the night Tilley came away with the win but he certainly knew he had been in a war. Gary "The Ripper" Halcrow also fought the founder of the show Paul Meyer in a brutal contest taken by Gaz on short notice, he took the fight with 14days and ended up in bed with flu for 10 of them, and still came out the winner after showing all the pride and heart of a yorkshire man. I'm also going to give John B and Rudi a mention this month - Rudi has become John's training partner 2 months ago and these boys are keeping me on my toes and demanding tougher and tougher workouts everytime I see them. And finally my new lads workout group need a mention - Tosh,Paul,Jag and Vil are really getting into the swing of training and I'm looking to see some big results with them in the new year, they have settled into the routine and are coming on in leaps and bounds in terms of strength gains and improvements in technique.
All good news in the Kris Cann Personal Training stable.
On a personal note my studies have been eating in to my time but are paying off and I am hovering around a predicted 2:1 or if luck is with me a 1st, just need to keep my nose to the grindstone and my fingers on the keyboard.
UK STRENGTH AND CONDITIONING COACHING.
In line with my studies I am also in the process of gaining accreditation as a strength and conditioning coach for all sports(I already hold combat sports certification)and passed level 1 training this weekend. Look out for further improvements coming to your performance training very soon.
For now that's me done
Stay happy, healthy, fit and strong

I want to start today by saying how lucky we are to live in Bournemouth - the weather here in October has been perfect, just the excuse for me to get some extra running and mountain biking sessions in - I hope your all making the most of it!
I'm sure you don't want to know about my recent holiday details so I will only be brief and say I had an amazing weeks boating in Greece - with plenty of kayaking, snorkeling, swimming, a bit more mountain biking with some long breaks for sunbathing. I'll stop there as I dont want to make anyone jealous.
GYM NEWS
JOHN ORCHARD
As I have mentioned in previous blogs - John has been training with me for the last 6 weeks to get faster, sharper and more powerful for his attempt at winning the Amatuer Boxing Association (A.B.A) championships, and then being eligible to represent team G.B in the 2012 London Olympics. John's campaign begins this Saturday with his first boxing bout for many years at the Bournemouth 02 academy. I have worked with John for many of his previous fights and feel he has the skill, conditioning and technical ability to go all the way. Please spare a positive thought for John and lets hope to see him in with a chance of Olympic glory soon.
SEAN DODD has just finished (literally) his Kilimanjaro climb, and text me to say - "it was a long hard slog but I made it"! I cant wait to find out all about the trip. Sean has promised me some photos for this website, so that those of you who were kind enough to sponsor him can see proof of his achievement. Well done mate always new you'd make it.
ANOTHER SUCCESS STORY - I have been working with Miss E for 3 weeks twice a week, she has amazed me with the effort she has put in to training. Miss E is getting married in December and has very clear goals - she is absolutely flying towards them right now and I've every confidence she will be walking down the aisle in the best shape ever. This is someone who has never done any form of fitness training before starting with me 3 weeks ago. Hats off Miss E, well done.
There are a few other people I should mention this time for achievement - however I am out of time and have to rush out to the gym.
If you are new to my blog and need help with getting fit and sticking to it, or you need to achieve a sporting or fitness goal, then get in touch - NOW!
Think Fit, Get Fit, Stay Fit.
Over and out for now.

GRAEME MARSH TRAINING VISITS BOURNEMOUTH
My colleague and pal Graeme Marsh(G)made a visit to Bournemouth yesterday for some nutritional consultations with several of my clients and a food for fighters seminar. The day was a huge success that inspired, motivated, educated and informed everyone involved including myself. Many thanks to G for making the trip down, it's always a pleasure to work with such a knowledgable, dynamic and respected professional. G will be back in Bournemouth for private consults, events and bigger seminars we are working on in the near future.
POOLEY BACK IN THE CAGE
Scott Pooley is back in action next Sunday. Training has been very specific with a clear game plan, again Scott has beasted the strength and conditioning programmes I have put him through, completing 5 grueling and draining rounds and then doing 3 rounds of car pushing just to make sure he's ready. A clear head and sticking to his game plan will see Scott continue his march up the Southwest area featherwight rankings. As always though, I wish all of the athletes I work with the best, so Good luck Scott
GYM NEWS
After a fantasic summer of training it's time for me to take a brief holiday. The efforts of my clients this summer have been probaly the best I've seen - All of you guys are dedicated and pushing hard to get where you want! Due for extra praise this month has to be Sean Dodd, his training is paying off with big improvements coming fast, with less than one month until he sets off for Kilimanjaro, his legs have taken some stick in training but are well on the way to getting him up the mountain. Sean's Just Giving details will be avialable on Tues so please support him and the Cicely Foundation. Another mention must go to D and C, who have been training with me 3 mornings a week at 6 a.m - getting up that early is an achievement in itself. These guys are on the way to getting some serious results. My final mention must go to Phil C, who has doubled his training efforts and in only 12 weeks training was mistaken for a professional athlete this week - powerful stuff.
I am proud of everyone who is in the gym with me at the moment, keep it up - you all deserve the success you are achieving.
LAWSON UPDATE
Jeff Lawson unfortunately lost his high profile bout against the world number 8 in Japan. As always Jeff took the fight to his opponent, at this level anything can happen but on the night the Japanese legend was just too good. Not phased by this Jeff is straight back in the gym and preparing for a big bout in the states in only 8 weeks and a win will see him right back in the mix.
SIGNING OUT FOR A FEW WEEKS
After a busy summer I'm heading out to Lefkas in Greece for a well earned break on the 12/9, if I dont get the chance to blog before then.
Be good, stay happy and healthy, see you in a few weeks with a sun tan.

BIG IN JAPAN.
Just a quick one this week, my pal, and colleague Jeff Lawson has just flown out to Japan for the biggest fight of his career. He faces the #1 ranked Japanesse superstar Hatsu Hioki on SRC 14 in Tokoyo on Sunday night.
I know Jeff has put in the hours for this fight and a win here can see him take his place on the world stage.
Good luck Jeff.
Thats all for today but I will have more news next week.
Have a great weekend and enjoy the airshow!
Stay Fit, Strong, Happy and Healthy.

Back on the Blog.
Since last week I've had a couple of new jobs to get my teeth stuck into - #1 Training Sean Dodd for his Kilimanjaro climb for the Cicely foundation in October. Sean is starting training with me this week and I'm looking forward to getting him ready to tackle the Kilimanjaro challenge. Sean's just giving info will be online a little closer to the trip so please get involved.
#2 John Orchard is making a return to amatuer boxing, one of the finest(if not the finest)kickboxer(s)ever to come out of Britain - John won the N.B.A(Novice boxing champs)a good few years back and has decided now is the time to get back in to the boxing game after much success and 3 world titles as a professional kickboxer. With 2012 being Olympic year John is motivated by the prospect of a possible place in team G.B should his A.B.A championship campaign be victorious. I am proud to be part of Johns fight team and wish him the very best for this seasons competition.
With this and much more work to getting on with I am going to have to sign out.
Till next time be Healthy, Fit and Happy.

O.k so the last 2 months have been hectic with some heavy workloads on the university front, I do however apologise for the absence of a blog since mid May. Now that Uni is finished until October I have the chance to kickback, relax, enjoy a few holidays, get blogging again and of course get all of you fit and healthy.
The last term at uni was spent studying an area I'm particularly interested in - sports psychology, more specifically, mental imagery training. Mental imagery has helped me in many ways with my own sporting achievements and also helped some of those I train to get results. I have gained a deeper understanding of this subject and can make imagery strategies available to help with your training if you are interested in this area.
So whats been going on in the gym over the last few months?
I'm going to start today with a guy who started training with me in early May, Phil Hamilton Brown. Before I met Phil, he had been training hard 5 times a weeks for 90 mins a session, he was not happy with the results he was getting and dropped me an email. We met up and had a chat about his goals and I designed a 3 month programme for him. Phil trained with me 2 sessions a week for 2 months and did 2 workouts a week by himself - the results Phil achieved(notably with 30mins less gym time each session)were impressive to say the least, he lost around 7%
body fat and dropped 3 kilos in weight while gaining several inches of well defined muscle mass. Phil followed my nutritional guidelines almost to the letter and this combined with his dedication in the gym has helped him to succeed. Phil has finished his intensive training and has moved on to seeing me once a month to get a programme, a bit of a training boost and some guidance on what he should be doing in his training sessions. Well done Phil all your hard work has paid off - keep it up Phil.
Natalie Bee - Update
As those of you who read my blog will know, Natalie is 3 times world kickboxing champ and a monster in the gym when she is in training. Things have changed a little with her as she is nearly 20 weeks pregnant. The type of training we normally would do is as intense as any you will ever see in any gym, in any sport! However, now there is a baby Bee on the way things have slowed down a lot. Pre natal training is not usually my forte(although I have trained several mums to be)but Natalie asked me if I would help train her. She is doing well, enjoying training and managing not to argue when I have to stop her trying to do too much. Enjoy your new challenge Nat and I'm sure that in another 4 or 5
months you will make a fantastic mum. Just one thing - please dont be having baby Bee in the gym!
New to training.
This summer has seen several new faces training with me, all of whom are making excellent progress and continue to have a hunger for achieving results. Guys and girls you know who you are - keep up the good work!
Fighters update
Aidan McLaughlin - has been training with me and using the Ultimate Beach Bootcamp to get his fitness up to speed for a major step up in competition on 30.7.10. He is fitter than anyone in the gym has ever seen him, - Unfortunately he came unstuck when a technical error lost him the fight. He was fighting an opponent who weighed in half a stone over the limit and who was vastly more experienced, Aidan gave a good account of himself and will learn from his mistake and will return to the cage in the very near future.
Scott Pooley - Scott in my opinion is a rising star in the M.M.A world, we have been working on getting his strength up whilst keeping his weight down. His strength is impressive for a 20 year old, 65 kilo fighter. With a big fight coming up against a dangerous opponent who is almost a doppelganger for Scott - same age and birthday, same build, same fight record and very similar strengths, the winner of this contest is sure to go on to big things in the future. Scott is about to start phase 2 of his fight training and with 6 weeks left he will be hitting explosive endurance training and taking his fitness to a whole new level. This next fight is one to watch for sure! Watch this space.
Thats about it for my latest update, enjoy the summer and make the most of your holiday time.
Stay fit, Happy, Healthy and Strong

4.5.10 GETTING BACK IN TOUCH
Life for me has been buzzing since my last blog back in February. I've had another awesome ski trip, taken on several new clients(who are doing great), been running ON TOP FITNESS boxing sessions, hitting the ULTIMATE BEACH BOOTCAMP workout extra hard, planning a boxing bootcamp session for all the girls wanting to get fit for summer, cracked on with my coaching degree, passing level C and progressing on to the next phase and somehow I found time to play the odd set of tennis and made the trip to Wembely for Spurs v.s Pompey in the F.A cup semis.
GOAL SETTING UPDATE
It's been an exciting few months and I've achieved and reset some of the goals I had set for myself at the start of this year, O.K some I haven't quite got round to just yet but I will get there before 2010 is over! I hope those of you that did set goals at the start of the year have progressed towards them, If you have made it - well done, pat yourself on the back and set some more and get working towards them. If you didn't make it yet, keep trying - they are your goals and when you reach them it will feel amazing. If you didn't set any goals, have a think about doing it. Scroll down to January of this year and have a go.
SHOUT OUTS
My shout outs this time must go to - Scott Pooley, John Orchard and Shaun King.
Lets start with the new British featherweight Shock and Awe, M.M.A champion - Scott Pooley. Scott was fighting the well respected, Lumpini gym M.M.A coach Trevor Birmingham. Scott was as fit if not fitter than any of the athletes I have trained and after 5 weeks intensive strength and conditioning he was ready to take his British title shot! He defeated a very experienced and respected fighter and deserves to be proudly wearing the Shock and Awe belt! Scott has an exciting career infront of him and can go on to higher ranks of competition as long as he keeps his feet firmly on the ground. I am really proud to have been a part of Scott's training team and will be there for his next training camps. Well done Scott
John Orchard won every round of a prestige international kickboxing contest against dangerous French opposition. Hopefully we will see John in 1 or 2 more superfights in the near future.
Shaun King defeated Ben Grant and is now the next in line for a shot at an area title in the amatuer kickboxing. He is having a few months sabatical from training but will be in the ring again towards the end of the year.
My record with sports clients is speaking for itself, if you are serious about getting results whatever your sport or goal - training with me works. Make it happen.
Over and out till next time.
Be healthy, happy and fit for the summer
Kris
24.02.10 PERSONAL TRAINING SUCCESS STORIES 2010 BOURNEMOUTH
What a great start to 2010 - and at last I have a spare 5 minutes to catch up with my blog! It really has been a brilliant start to the year for myself and several of the guys and girls I'm training!
First off I want mention Lucy Redknapp who has done amazingly well since resuming some serious training with me in January. Lucy is a busy mother of 4, and so as you can imagine, time is precious. It's vital that she finds time to get to the gym and when she does she often only has 40 mins but still manages to get outstanding results. Lucy has lost a stone in 5 weeks as well as dropping two jeans sizes. So well done Lucy! Look out for Lucy who is soon to feature in the ITV show real housewives.
Second up is Matt McGovern - Matt is currently in training for Royal Marines officer physical tests and he wont mind me saying he's a big lad - which comes in pretty handy being a rugby player and local doorman! But since January Matt's fitness has improved massively and his weight has dropped substantially with his body composition becoming much leaner through exercise and sensible eating. When Matt first came to me, although strong he had difficulty with muscular endurance - but through the training we have done, Matt is now heading up the leader board of a circuit workout that I use to test how fit some of my clients are. With another 6 weeks until his tests , I can say with confidence that matt is going to pass with flying colours.
Aside from training, over the last month I have also featured in the Bournemouth Echo twice - with a two-page ski exercise special, and my comments on the government's new initiative aimed at getting people aged between 45-65 more active. The ski feature was cool and will be up on the news section of this site very soon. To add some credibility to this, one of my clients - Di P - has just returned from her second ever ski trip to Austria and to quote Di " all of these allegedly fit youngsters were dropping like flies, on the last day I was the only one who made it to lessons out of the whole group - everyone else was complaining of sore legs, not me, the ski training worked a treat - thanks Kris".

Jeff Lawson
You may remember my blogs last year about Jeff, and my working with him in his quest to become "The Ultimate Fighter". After a minor set back in his career last year, I am thrilled to say that Jeff is back in business with a first round (30 second) masterclass victory over a well rated opponent. Jeff has now signed a 3 fight deal with one of the big players stateside and is moving up to some big contests in the near future. Well done Jeff it's great to see you back, and in the best form I've ever seen you.
So much has happened since I last wrote that I'm sure I must have forgotten something, but time has caught up with me and I have to run.
Get fit, stay fit, feel great and live the dream - and if you need some help then remember where I am!
Till next time

16.01.10 PERSONAL TRAINING BOURNEMOUTH, HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!!!
My year as always, started with 7 awesome days skiing in Italy, getting me back to work refreshed and ready to get everybody (myself included) fitter and healthier than ever.
I am officially back to work and as everyone's new years resolutions are in full swing I have a limited amount of time slots remaining - but if you need to get fit then get booked in quick.
I had an amazing 2009 with many of my clients achieving their best ever results, and on a personal note I got some pretty good results myself. In 2009 I trained my first world champions, worked on movie sets, gained recognition for my work in movie credits and was privileged to have worked with many inspirational and special people throughout the year.
Whilst 2009 was a great year for me, some people reading this may have had below par years.
REMEMBER WHETHER YOU HAD A GREAT 2009 OR A NOT SO GOOD 2009, IT'S OVER - 2010 IS HERE, AND IN THE WORDS OF BUZZ LIGHTYEAR "ONWARDS AND UPWARDS".
At the end of a year and the beginning of the next I find it really productive to set myself goals. These goals give me a sense of direction for the coming year and are guidelines of where I'd like my life to go over the next 365 days. If I focus my energy on this rather than drifting , I stand a much better chance of getting what I want out of life. Writing goals down is proof that you are commited to success. Here are exampes of a few goals I am working towards in 2010:
- To reduce my body fat percentage to 10% or slightly lower by the summer(measurable)
- To improve my ski technique and become a better off - piste skier(viewable with video and pictures)
- To redecorate one of the rooms in my flat before summer (viewable)
- To gain 3 kilos of muscle mass before my birthday (measurable and viewable)
These are just a few of the goals I am working towards this year, and these should give you an idea of the types of goals that you can set for yourself.
Goals can be small or big, the big ones will normally take a bit longer to achieve, and the small ones are milestones and markers that will make you feel good on your journey to success.
One of my larger goals in 2010 is to set up a Bootcamp business throughout the Bournemouth and Poole area, starting in March or April, with the aim of getting as many people as possible fit and healthy - so look out for this over the coming months.
If you don't already have this year's goals mapped out then get working! Make them positive, achievable(but still think big), time framed and worthwhile. And if you need help with your goal setting then get in touch. But whatever your goals are for this year my advice is: believe, be tough, see it through and get the results you deserve. So get setting those goals!
2010 UPDATE
Boxing with the Cherries
On Tuesday I was called by my colleague and pal Carl Sams from the Bulldog martial arts gym, and asked to help out the A.F.C Bournemouth team with some boxing training. This session was featured on Sky Sports on Wednesday morning. The lads had a good go at it and some of them even showed a bit of natural flair. Good luck to A.F.C.B with the rest of this seasons campaign, they are off to a flyer and I hope to see them finish at the top of the table.
Ski Exercises in the Echo
Next week my 6 favourite ski exercises will feature in the Bournemouth Echo, so if you are off this season - get reading. I trained for 5 weeks before my last ski trip and it helped me out big time - ski trips are too expensive to be sat around in the mountain cafes just because your legs hurt. (Obviously a few well earned recreational breaks in those cafes is essential for refuelling, not to mention good fun!)Check out the Echo next week for easy to do, at home exercises, which will make your ski holiday even better.
If you are serious about getting fit in 2010, you know where I am - get in touch.
Get fit, stay fit and live your dreams.
Happy 2010!
Till next time

******SNOW & SKI CONDITIONING IN BOURNEMOUTH******
Ok so who's Skiing or Boarding next year?
If the answer is yes you should seriously consider my Snow Fitness conditioning programmes. As an avid Skier I know the pounding your legs take when you have'nt been in the snow for a year or more. I run programmes to get you snow fit in as little as 4 sessions and you can even train with your friends, partners or family(including the children), I can take groups of up to 5 people making training very affordable for you! Make the most of your holiday and maximise your time in the mountains. Snow conditioning will-Improve balance, joint stablity, help to prevent muscle soreness(that stops you from enjoying the fun)and will help to stop silly injuries. As a bonus you will end up getting stronger, more toned and maybe even drop a few pounds. Call or email me to book before the spaces run out.
Good luck to all the Bootcamp lads especially, Rob Crehan and Sean Lee Hardy both have trained extra hard in prep for this Sundays Absolute Adrenaline - Generation x MMA and Kicboxing event in Bournemouth on Sun.
Good luck also to Shaun King who is having his last fight of the year - a win here will see him challenging for area title honours at amatuer level in his next outing.
Over and out.
Till next time be Happy, Fit and Heatly.
Kris
17.11.09
Woa - what a hectic few weeks. I've been too busy to get 5 mins to write my blog.
Ok Last time out Scott Pooley was off to fight in Sweden - Lets not beat around the bush, he came back with a loss! He is gutted, but my advice to him is that;he was fighting a older far more experienced opponent who has been fighting on the international scene since at least 2006. Loses are never nice but real warriors will pick themselves up dust them selves off and work out why they lost, start over and be invincible next time out! Scott is training again from next week and I know he is keen to avenge his only loss and I'm sure at domestic level he will be winning again very soon.
Next up I was presenting at the MMA League at the Caged Steel Gym in Yorkshire. In my opinion the best quality event the League has seen this far! There is some real talent coming through the ranks and there are going to be some hot new prospects coming into semi pro and pro competition very soon. I'm looking forward to the next round in 2010.
On a different note I want to thank my physio Peter Bloomer for all his help in rehabing my torn supra spinatus and am hoping to back into some training very soon - I've been out of action now since around mid October and Pete's help has certainly speeded up my recovery. If anyone needs a Physio Pete is highly recommended.
Christmas:
Ok for all my clients(invite only) I will be having a Xmas gathering/party of some description - The date for your diaries is Thursday 10th of December and the venue and whether or not we are eating will be confirmed very soon.
Xmas presents:
I will be doing Xmas gift vouchers if anyone wants to buy training as presents this year. Give me a call and arrange a package.
Ultimate Ski Fitness Bournemouth:
Ok its time to get fit for the slopes with the first ski flights leaving in less than a month, you should be thinking about ski training - to give a bit of incentive I am running THE ULTIMATE SNOW WORKOUTS - These are for up to 4 people male and female, young or old and perfect for the whole family. Sessions are 1hour and cost from £15pp. You will not only be fit for the slopes but tone up and burn of some of the Xmas calories before they go in!
Thats it for this weeks news. Dont forget get in early with Xmas vouchers and Snow Training bookings.
Stay Fit, Healthy, Happy and Sexy.
See you next time.
Kris.

Guys and Girls todays blog is gonna be a short one as time is ticking.............
Deadman Running Premiere
Wow - what a night! It was a real privilege and pleasure to be invited after working with Tamer before and during filming. I stayed in the Mayfair hotel with all the cast including Tamer, Danny Dyer and of course 50 Cent and most of the people who were attending the premier where also there. In the bar there were too many faces to name, among the many were Ashley Cole, Rio Ferdinand, Louis Walsh and Mel B.
The premiere itself was very cool and walking on the red carpet right after 50 cent was not something many people can claim to have done. I was a bit nervous as I wanted the film to be as good as I had remembered on set - It met my expectations and is a slick action movie with plenty of laughs and clever twists along the way. It was great to see the scenes I had been involved in. All the stars were really friendly and after the movie at the hotel after party we all had a few glasses of champagne and partied hard into the morning.
So back to life in Bournemouth - Scott Pooley flies out to Sweden today and I wish him all the very best for his M.M.A bout on Halloween. He is fit and with a bit of luck will come home a winner.
L.J from Muscliff who has been training with me for several years has stepped up a gear with training and has lost over 5 kilos in the last 4 weeks well done l.J! If she can do it then so can you.
Thats me signing off for another week
Be Happy, strong, healthy and Sexy

18.10.09 Deadman Running...
A year ago I was working with Hollywood and UK actor Tamer Hassan.
I worked with Tam to get him in shape to star as Nick Cane in Deadman Running which premiers at the Leicester Square Odeon on 22.10.09.
Working with Tam was awesome - He's is a great guy and has a talent for making people laugh. I had to commute to London sometimes for four days a week including weekends.
We had 6 weeks to get Tamer fit and looking like a fighter.
Luckily Tam is an ex boxer (and still packs a mean left hook) so needed no introduction to rigorous training. He didn't expect what I had lined up for him though! With so little time and having to get him in the shape of his life, I had to come up with some of the hardest programmes I've ever written. Tamer knew there were no ways out or hidding places, he had to get in shape for the biggest lead part of his career so far. He was a bit shocked at first at how hard training was but he got stuck in and surprised me a bit with the effort and workrate he put in.
I worked with my good pal Greame Marsh as Tamer's nutritionist for the movie - with G's help we got Tam's body weight and body fat down and managed to get a bit of a 6 pack going on for him. He ripped up really well for the film and in the 6 weeks we worked for he got some awesome results and everyone who knows Tamer from directors to family were amazed at the results we achieved.
The routines I used were intense and involved Mini circuits set over 2 min rounds with kettle bells, bodyweight exercises, cable work and some traditional freeweight training aswell as boxing, running and cycling.
After all the hard work we got Tamer there and it was time to get filming. First of all the fight scenes were filmed - So I traveled up to Millenium Mills in Londons Docklands to get get Tamer warmed up for a whole day of fighting. Anyone who thinks that movie industry is easy, I was there first hand, it's tough work and Tamer had to fight all day until around 7:30pm in the freezing cold in just a T-shirt and had to throw around one of the biggest guys I have ever seen. Filming is very demanding and Tamer said to me after he could'nt have got through it if I hadnt got him so fit! Working on set was alot of fun but far from glamorous and bloody cold! The movie was filmed in different locations every day for 5 whole weeks. All the crew were friendly and Alex de Rackoff the director invited me sit next to him and watch how it was all done and even explained how the clips are put togther to make a film.
On Thursday I'm off to the Deadman Running premier and will get my first taste of walking on the red carpet and am looking forward to seeing my name on the big screen.
Thanks to Tamer for all the laughs we had along the way and for being such an easy client to work with (we wont mention the 2 hours waits and times when he let me down, but thats movie stars for ya :))Also thanks to all the team at Aegis training the gym we used in London and also to Greame for his help.
One more thing before I sign off for the day - well done Shaun King another victory this time by a first round stoppage. Good work mate! See you for training again soon.
Be Happy, Healthy, Fit and pretty

06.10.09
It's blog time again, already - Time really does fly when your having fun!
So more exciting times at Kris Cann Personal Training Bournemouth.
It could have been easy to go a little flat after the massive weekend we had in September - but there was no time to kick back and it was straight back into training with a new athlete in the shape of the undefeated pro Scott Pooley from Poole Ju Jitsu. Scott is fighting in Sweeden on Halloween. He is only 19 and brings with him bags of heart, enthusiasm and talent as well as a willingness to learn. In the last 3 weeks his fitness levels have shot up and with 3 weeks until he travels out to compete, training is getting ultra tough! - If this fight goes more than Scott's usual first minute wins he will be fit enough to push the pace till the very end if he has to. Watch this space
Also John Orchard the 3 x World Middle weight Kickboxing Champion has his M.M.A debut scheduled for December. John is in the gym again training harder than ever to prove that he can mix it up with any oppostion. He is looking good already and will come into this fight fitter and stronger than ever.
Clara Norman is well deserving a mention this time round, she trained very hard and had a fantastic performance against a much heavier opponent in Birmingham. Clara kept control all the way through the fight using her strength and power, to give what I'm told was an impressive display. Well done Clara see you soon for the next fight programme.
In the last 2 weeks I have returned for my second year at University and am currently studying ; long term athlete development. It's been good to have the Summer break, but its good to be back and learning again.
M.M.A Certified Strength and Conditioning Coach in Bournemouth:
I almost forgot I recieved the results from my exams for the Mma cscc course - and I passed with flying colours, making me one of the first qualified csc coaches in the UK.
Also last weekend I was invited to CHEK practitioner and Faculty educator, Leigh Brandon's seminar on developing speed for sport in London. This was a good course and an excellent addition to the cscc course last month. If you want to be faster, stronger and fitter then give me a call.
Finally,I know the nights are drawing in and the temperature is starting to creep down a little. We all know this means Summer is officially over but lets face it- September was a scorcher and we probably had the best Summer for a few years. But screw that! Winter to me means only one thing 'SNOW'. No I'm not talking about the snow we have here that makes life difficult causes traffic pile ups and us to be late for work - I'm talking about the stuff you Ski on. If you havent guessed already Im very much looking forward to next Winter's Ski season and have been saving up to get a week in January, Feburary and for my birthday in March aswell. If your a serious skier or even first timer then getting fit for the snow is not too far away - my snow conditioning courses run from mid November so get in touch for more information.
Be Healthy, Wealthy, Fit and Happy
Until next time

22.9.09
Its time for me to say well done to all my athletes who were competing over this weekend.
CONGRATULATIONS NATALIE '3 BELTS' BEE
Lets start with Natalie Bee - Career best and possibly career defining performance. She has put everything into her training in order to achieve a dream and win 3 world titles. For the last 12 weeks Nat has dedicated her whole life to winning this fight, she has trained harder than any kickboxer I have ever seen and been through physical hell and then some to prepare for a super tough and very experienced opponent. Nat has had to change the way she eats and I'm sure she wont mind me telling everyone that getting her stripped down to 57.5kg for the weigh in, was a little stressfull for her and took alot of help. I have to thank my friend and colleague Greame Marsh the director of Aegis training in London, who has taken the role of Natalie's nutritional coach and been there for her on email for the last 6 weeks, multiple times daily from Cairo. Without G's help on this we wouldn't have managed to make the weight without saunas diuretics and laxitives.(not good for health) I know Nat has learnt valuable lessons about the sort of foods a champion need to eat.
John Orchard her kickboxing coach has as always been a complete professional and technically produced a fantastic world champion.
Carl Sams the promoter for Absolute Adrenaline and owner of the Bulldog gym has worked long and hard to find the best opponents for Nat and bring them to Bournemouth whatever the cost.
On a personal note despite the horrible conditioning sessions I have put Nat through she has never once complained and I am proud to been part of the team behind the new 2 x World Featherweight Champion. Well done Nat !
On now to the other fighters out this weekend - Jeff Lawson has unfortunatley suffered a knock out loss in Denmark and the whole of the Bulldog camp is a little stunned. I am sure that Jeff will learn from this loss and soon be back a more rounded and dangerous fighter than ever.
Shaun King - In his first kickboxing outing, Shaun has stepped up and learnt to kick in just 7 weeks. He put in alot, was fit for task and made easy work of the fight.
He has taken all the advice I have given him and even given up some of favorite things in the build up to this fight!
Shaun is out again in October so watch this space for more wins.
Sam Rocha won in style with a first round submission and John Holdaway thrilled the crowd with yet another war, he was unfortunatley on the loosing side but gave a very good account and almost pulled off the last round K.O that was needed.
Last but not least
James O Keefe did the business after I travelled to London on Saturday to see his 1 min 15second ground and pound victory over Danny Beevor.
A great weekend of fight sport action. Well done to all involved . Enjoy your time off training, see you again soon ready for the next shows.
Over and out from me for now.
Stay Happy, fit, fast and pretty!
Kris

I'm fresh back in Bournemouth from the Jc Santana Mma Strenth and conditioning course last weekend. 'Jc' is one of the industry's big players and some would include him with the Paul Chek's and Charles Poliquin's for his contribution to the health, fitness and sports world. He is a master of functional exercise, a truly inspirational coach and a very down to earth - straight talking guy.
I've come away from this course with some new ideas and approaches to the way my athletes are conditioned, but also have found a new level of confidence and have top level reassurance in the way I am already coaching. Thanks to 'Jc' and the Strength Company for putting on this world first event in the UK.
FITNESS IN BOURNEMOUTH:
The Ultimate Lads Workout is now up and running in Bournemouth with the first team of four now into their third week and getting great results. The lads workout is done in the gym with the guys working in a round robin style workout with weights followed by boxing and core training. This is a cheap, fun and effective way of getting fit safely and quickly.
THE GIRLS WORKOUT - BOURNEMOUTH:
O.k, so I am not being sexist - The Girls Workout is designed and ready to go. If you want to get in on this, all you need is a group of four ladies of a similar fitness level who really want to get quality results. Let me do the rest.
Finally - I want to wish all the fighters I train whether individually or as part of Ultimate Beach Bootcamp the very best of luck in thier competitions this weekend, Jeff Lawson in Denmark, Natalie Bee, Sam Rocha, Shaun King and John Holdaway fighting at Absolute Adrenaline - Kickboxing Thaiboxing and MMA in Bournemouth and Jim o Keefe in Ultimate Challenge. You have all put in 110% and I know you all have enough in the tank to be there with your hands up at the end of your fights.
BOYS AND GIRL - LETS GO TO WORK !
Again be Fit, Happy, Healty and Strong and look good while your doing it.
Kris
10.9.09
Right news this week: All the fighters I coach are ready for their respective competitons next week, Shaun King has one session with me today then all his hard work is over.
Jeff Lawson - What can I say this guy is unbelievable, I have worked with Jeff for around a year, his ability as a fighter needs no introduction - his fitness levels are amazing I have trained with him myself a few times in the last few weeks and he has blown me away in some of the hardest and most gruelling sessions I have ever designed, until the last round I could not even notice he was breathing and even then his recovery was phenomenal, all the hard training is finished for Jeff and he is on a taper until the 17.9 when he flies out to Denmark for what I know will be a huge win for him.
Natalie Bee - Fighting for 2 new world titles on 20.9 Nat has pushed herself harder than ever. She looks ultra fit and her opponent is in for even more of a shock than her camp will be expecting.
Over the years I have trained many athletes for different sports and without wishing to upset any one, I honestly have to say that Nat is the fittest most driven female athlete I have ever seen. I am looking forward to being in the corner for Natalie's double world title win next week in Bournemouth.
Other fighters John Holdaway and Rob Crehan are also reported by fight coaches John Orchard and Jeff Lawson to be in the best shape of their careers - Ultimate Beach Bootcamp is obviously working!
I am off to the Ultimate Training Centre in Birmingham tomorrow for the J.c Santana, certified Mma strength and conditioning coaches course.
It will be great to train with one of the worlds premier Mma S&C coaches and also to train in the UK's no.1 Mma gym.
Thats enough from me for this week.
Stay fit, strong, happy and healthy

03.09.09
What a crazy week, I spent the bank holiday with family down in Devon and had a great time(apart from my mum beating me at tennis).
So on Monday night I had a meeting/dinner with James O Keefe, Owner of the Ultimate Fitness Centre in London. James is a Mixed Martial Arts fighter with his debut on Ultimate challenge in London, in 2 weeks. He had heard the sort of work I am doing with many of our local fighters and wanted to push his conditioning up a couple of notches and make a big impression when he steps into the cage.
James came down to Bournemouth specially to train with me and bought with him a huge positive attitude, bags of personality and above all the will to do what it takes to be a winner. He did two days intensive training and I really put him through it. There are some tough guys out there but there are few who have as much in the tank as the guys who work with me. James did himself and me proud and is welcome down anytime to train. Good luck for September 19th.
Another fighter deserves a mention - Shaun King, who despite being another year older and having had a major weekend celebrating has made it in to training and is looking good. With just over 2 weeks to go until his kickboxing debut it is safe to say Shaun will be in the best shape of his fighting career since his move away from boxing.Lets see another victory for Shaun very soon.
The Ultimate Beach Bootcamp is going from strength to strength with sessions getting harder as fitness levels improve.
More days are coming soon so watch this space
Stay fit, strong, happy and healthy

Its been another awesome week, the weather in Bourenemouth has been great- Jeff Lawson and I are looking forward to Wed mornings Bootcamp rain or shine, I know all the guys are wondering what we are going to throw at them next, the uphill car push went down well as a finisher last week. Numbers are looking good.
In the gym things are hotting up for all my fighters with Natalie Bee training hard for her double World title bout on September 20th.It has to be said I feel sorry for Tracy Reno (a very tough champion), Natalie's opponent.Nat is in the shape of her life - this girl is different class.
Mr lawson is stepping up a gear after working with me all year - He finally has a fight in Denmark coming up in September and a win here will see a return to UFC competition in the very near future.
Watch this space Jeff is coming back after illness cut him short in the Ultimate Fighter series, He is stronger, Faster and fitter than ever.
On Sunday, I was invited along to Kyran Bracken's 'Ice Party'.This was a first for me and I have to say I was very impressed and amazed at how good the show was.
If you have the chance go along and catch the show Thurs to Sunday for 2 more weeks at the B.I.C.
Many thanks to Scott, the tour manager who made sure we were well looked after and introduced to the cast after the show.
Some of the cast will be training with me whilst they are in town, these guys and girls are in fantastic shape so I cant wait to put them through their paces.
Catch you soon.
Stay Fit, Strong, Happy and Healthy.

Hi. Welcome to my blog.
What a great week I've had, Wednesday has seen the successful launch of Ultimate Beach Bootcamp.
The "Ultimate fighter" star Jeff Lawson and myself came up with the idea to run explosive power/endurance Sessions at the crack of 7am every Wed morning.
The guys we invited all stepped up and luckily the weather was perfect, training on the beach in the early morning sunshine was the perfect way to start.
Awesome workout and the guys rewarded them selves with a quick dip to cool off before getting some breakfast.
Ultimate Beach Bootcamp will take place weekly to initialy with more days available as numbers grow.
On friday I was lucky enough to be offered the chance to work with the celebreties, skaters and team for the up coming event - Kyran Bracken's "Ice party" coming to Bournemouth next weekend.
I'm really looking forward to meeting and working with the team.
If you would like to join bootcamp get in touch fast as spaces are running out very fast, this Wed is limited to 20 spaces.Call or email me NOW to book.
Stay Fit, Strong, Happy and Healthy.
